No-Bake Lactation Bites

Lactation bites

When you’re recovering from childbirth and breastfeeding a newborn, you don’t often have time to prepare a full meal for yourself. The “fourth trimester” is a time for healthy snacks that you can prepare ahead of time and eat with one hand. These no-bake lactation bites are power-packed with healthy fats, good protein, and lactogenic ingredients to aid your milk production. Make them during your last few weeks of pregnancy and store them in your freezer, so you have a stash ready to go when baby arrives. We suggest a double batch, and be sure everyone else in the home knows they are for you only. Otherwise, they will all get eaten up by partners or older kiddos because they are so tasty!

INGREDIENTS:

4 cups old-fashioned or quick-cook oats

1 cup mini chocolate chips

1 cup unsweetened nut butter

1 cup ground flax seed

2 TB chia seeds

2 TB hemp hearts

2 TB brewer’s yeast

1 cup honey

2 tsp vanilla

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl (you may have to use your hands!).

  2. If time, refrigerate mixture for 30 minutes.

  3. Roll into bite-size balls.

  4. Store in a Ziploc bag or airtight container in the fridge or freezer to prevent melting.

  5. Enjoy with a large glass of water!
